Interpellation in Czech parliamentarism 2010-2021. Theoretical and analytical views
Czinege, Matěj ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to present the basic aspects of parliamentary questions (interpellations) and their actual use within Czech parliamentarism. Interpellations serve as a means of controlling the parliament, which is one of its most important functions. This function simply confirms the parliamentary system, thus fulfilling the purpose of parliamentarism. Interpellation is an essential element of the scrutiny function of parliaments. Its study not only sheds light on the functioning of parliamentarism, but also reveals the different levels of relations between the legislative and executive branches. It is one of the essential elements for understanding the functioning of a particular political system. The thesis focuses on the period between 2010 and 2021. This allows us to follow the development of the interpellation in the context of Czech parliamentarism over a longer period of time, without being a historical work. The thesis defines the basic characteristics of interpellations and focuses on their functions, which it then analyses on the basis of available data.

Trejbal, Jakub ; Grinc, Jan (advisor) ; Syllová, Jindřiška (referee)
Parliament of the Czech Republic and the European Union ABSTRACT What are the effects of European integration on the functioning of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and how does the European law set the boundaries for the involvement of this key constitutional institution in European affairs? To what extent do the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate deal with the European agenda and engage in European Union policy-making, and are there differences between them in this respect? What is the role of both chambers in the European legislative process and what is the level of their activity compared to the activity of parliamentary chambers of other EU member states? The search for answers to these questions is the focus of this thesis. The first part of this thesis defines the concept of a parliament and its functions and powers as understood in theory, followed by a general characterisation of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, its two chambers and the constitutional basis for their involvment in European affairs. The second part introduces the major milestones in the history of European integration that have shaped the relationship between the Parliament of the Czech Republic and the European Union and an assessment of their impact on the functioning of national parliaments. The third part analyses...

Stability of Incumbents in the Parliament of the Czech Republic
Mareček, Jan Lukáš ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Kuta, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with the personal stability of the Czech Parliament in the period after 1993 when the Czech Republic was founded. The author assumes a better orientation in both organizational and procedural issues of reelected representatives. The aim of this thesis is to explore what factors have influenced the rate of reelection of MPs and Senators and how these are subsequently reflected in the personal structure of both Chambers. Using a quantitative analysis, the author tests the hypothesis that the rate of reelection will be higher in the Senate due to the majority voting system which is more personalized than the proportional one used in the Chamber of Deputies. The hypothesis was tested in the Committees analogically. Furthermore, the author tests if the current level of voter turnout influences the final election results and the rate of reelection, respectively. The text is divided into three chapters. The thesis is composed of a common structure heading from a theoretical background towards empirical analysis.
